    July 26, 2018 /

No matter what history holds, Friendship Day is one such day which is celebrated throughout the year, every day, every minute, and every second and we are pretty sure there is not one but many stories behind it. Began to commercialize the greeting card business, Hallmark’s owner planted the roots of Friendship day and since then it has been celebrated all over the world and almost in every country. And While the world is a part of it, India has too stepped up and has been celebrating the joyous day since forever. In a land where parents are strict, reserved, and follow unconventional ways to restrict children and their respective freedom,…

Simple Dish Ideas for Valentines Day*

    February 9, 2017 /

On Valentines day, some people love nothing more than the idea of slaving away in the kitchen to create a slap up meal for the other half but some couples just don’t like to do that, the idea of wasting valuable time with their loved one by being in the kitchen just doesn’t appeal. But say you just don’t have the money to go out, but you still want to eat SOMETHING why not pick a simple dish you can both pull together as a couple. Here are a few of my suggestions; Antipasti Board I love Antipasti and it requires pretty much no work and tastes so good. And…

#NowCookIt with CO-OP – Roasted Vegetable Cous Cous

    February 7, 2017 /

Did you know that in October of last year, CO-OP and SORTEDfood partnered up to help get young people cooking? Well they did and together they came up with Now Cook It and way to help young people learn to cook. Now Cook It is a simple online cooking course to help people learn basic techniques at a time and pace thats suits them. The course is completely free to anyone who has access to a computer. Back when I was 18 and first out on my own I had to teach myself to cook. At home my mum had done all the cooking so I lacked basic skills that…

Berwick Food & Beer Festival 2016

    September 10, 2016 /

Back in 2014 I blogged about our local Food & Beer festival, however last year I was way too sick to take photos. This year though I made a concious effort, even just to have a note of it on the blog. Berwick’s Food & Beer Festival is possibly our families favourite local event of the year so by last Saturday we were hyped. Sadly the forecast wasn’t the best but armed with umbrellas and raincoats we headed over for an afternoon of good food and drink. One of my favourite things about the festival is the number of food stalls there are. I always try and save some money…

#Travelodgefoodies – Parmo Recipe, A Taste of the North East

    August 13, 2015 /

A long time ago (well that’s how it feels now), I lived in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I spent two years there after I’d finished uni working as a barmaid and then a waitress. I loved my time there, Newcastle is city steeped in heritage, a great place to shop and a fantastic night out. I have fantastic memories of these nights out, when I was young and stupid and didn’t come home until dawn. But a night out in Newcastle was never complete without a parmo to eat drunkenly while sat on a kitchen floor. A parmo with extra cheesy chips, there is nothing I loved more while completely intoxicated…
