How To Dress Up Summer Denim*
I don’t know about you, but I love denim in the summer. Denim jackets, denim skirts, denim shirts tied around waists and denim shorts. Although it’s not exactly the coolest of materials there is no denying denim and summer go had in hand. Yes, there are ways to get denim wrong, short shorts, ill fitting white jeans or the dreaded double denim but Trilogy has helped me put together a post about the more sophisticated ways to wear denim during the warmer months.
I’ve broken down the key denim styles styled with Trilogy’s new season collection that will help you keep the look contemporary, fresh and relative;
Straight Over Skinny
Although skinny jeans are still reigning supreme especially with the younger generation, they’re not exactly best suited for the summer. Trilogy recommends choosing straight legged jeans which are similar in style to skinny but without that claggy, close to skin feel. Fashion is now championing a straight silhouette and a more relaxed fit meaning looser legs and higher rises. Straight legs are cut straight from the knees down and are much more forgiving for those of us with a fuller figure. Straight legged jeans are still incredibly smart looking and work well for a day to night look. They pair well with Y2k shirts.
White Jeans
White denim has always been a summer staple, but one that many of us shy away from. A faux par in white jeans can be unforgivable and everyone knows the saying about white after Labour day! But in 2024 this need not be the case. There are some gorgeous white denim styles on the market from jackets to cropped bottoms and even straight legged as I mentioned above. The white colour is perfect for pairing with your favourite pastel baby tees and brights that are known to be popular in the summer.
Vintage Denim
Another popular choice for the summer months is vintage denim. You know the washed out, lived in kind, occasionally matched with the pre-bought fringed edges? Personally this is my favourite kind of denim, especially since it never seems to have that stiffness that new denim is known for. This trend for heritage-feel jeans isn’t going anywhere so invest now if you haven’t already. Look out this summer for this vintage denim decorated with 2024’s top trend, embroidery and you’re onto a winner.
Denim is the one style that never seems to go out of style, especially in the summer and it can be worn by men, women in y2k crop tops and children without ever looking out of place. Denim is something you never need to throw out as there is always a new way to style it!
