Why I Have Invested in a GPS Device – a PAJ Find & Protect Review*

This summer we have all heard the horror stories about what is happening in the airports, not just here in the UK but world wide. During COVID and no fly orders being in place, a lot of airports paid off their ground staff and are still struggling to recover from this. This is leading to long waits to check in, at security and to reclaim bags. As well as many flights being cancelled. When we flew to Florida in June I had so much airport anxiety it meant I didn’t really enjoy the start of my holiday. I did all I could by arriving at the recommended time and even upgrading our seats so they include fast track check in. But as far as losing my bags went, I felt helpless. That is why I have now invested in a GPS device.

Why Else Would I Have One?

Aside from using it at the airport when we say goodbye to our suitcases into the abyss.. I have a ten year old kid. Need I say more? In fact, said 10 year old kid isn’t that great at keeping an eye on her own stuff. On that same holiday as I mention above, she managed to get her backpack stole with all her worldly possessions in. It was heartbreaking that there was nothing I could do. I couldn’t fix it for her as I had no way to see where her bag had gone.

But you know what would have hurt more? Losing her. Yes, when we’re not off on holiday, I’ll be using this to keep an eye on the most important thing in my life, my daughter. Now she’s at middle school (we have a 3 tier system) the school encourages her to walk or bike the short distance from our house every morning. I tried to fight against it at first, but ultimately, she won. Now a group of children knock for her. The school walk is lined with adults but I still feel nervous. With our new GPS device on her, I’ll be able to see the second she diverts.

Which One Have I Invested in?

I received a PAJ Find & Protect Allround Finder which is one of the best GPS trackers on the market in Europe. It is a larger device for larger items such as luggage, modes of transport and of course, people. It comes in a swish box with some easy to follow instructions on how to get set up and ready to go. In the box you’ll find;

– The instruction manual (as previously mentioned)
– The finder device with the sim card already installed (do not remove it)
– A small case
– A USB charger cable
– A power outlet adapter

How Does It Work?

A GPS tracking device determines it’s position using satellites and sends this to the finder portal. You can have your finder portal set up on a computer or what I’m finding is easier, to have the app on your phone. It can be downloaded to iPhone or Android devices from their respective stores. Just make sure you don’t have your phone in the bag with the tracking device or the whole thing is a bit moot!

Getting Started with your PAJ Allround Finder

Once you take your GPS tracking device out the box, the first thing you need to do is charge it. It’s recommended that you charge it for 8-12 hours. Plug it in and wait for the red light to turn off, that will mean it’s ready to go. The PAJ Allround Finder has a battery life of up to 20 days once it’s fully charged. Perfect for your two week holiday!

While it is charging you can get your account set up. You can do this online, or on the app and all you’ll need is the bar code which you’ll find on the back of your device. There is a monthly subscription service to use this and you can cancel any time. The most expensive one is £5.99. I don’t think is bad and even cheaper than a monthly insurance cost for your mobile phone! And if you only use your device for a holiday, that is positively a bargain!

Once the red light is off and you have set up your account, you’re ready to go!

Using the PAJ Allround Finder

While the main purpose for this as far as I was concerned, was for keeping an eye on our luggage I have been testing it in my daughter’s school bag! I love that she can keep it in it’s little pouch, it makes no noise so it doesn’t disrupt class and I can track her walk to and from school. The app is so easy to use! It updates in live time every 30 seconds so I can actually watch her movements. It also displays routes for up to 30 days but my favourite feature is the fact I can set up safe zones called GeoFence. What’s a safe zone you say? I can basically set up a location (so for example, her school walk) and should the GPS tracker every leave that location I’d get an instant notification. Just for extra peace of mind.

Final Thoughts

I am so happy with the PAJ Allround Finder. It’s worth every penny and offers so much for such a minimal price. The peace of mind when travelling and in our day to day life is worth the price tag and the ease of using it is perfect for even the most technophobes among us!
