Alternative Destinations For Your Next Holiday*

They say that a holiday is what you make of it. In truth, though, the choice of destination is massively important and sets the tone for everything. Unfortunately, falling into the trap of picking the first one that comes to mind could limit your enjoyment. As such, looking at alternative options may be the best solution of all.

As a lot of us haven’t been on holiday in the last two years, you might be wanting to make 2022 a holiday of a lifetime! I know if we get away this year I’ll be doing that. But like many people, I have no idea where I want to go yet.

Here are five replacements for commonly visited destinations. While that’s not to say the others aren’t still great, going for those solutions could unlock far greater happiness.

Ignore Spain, Visit Croatia

Let’s face it, Spain is old news. So many of us now holidaying with our own families visited Spain in our youth, either as a carefree youngster or with our own parents. Now we’re looking for somewhere new, which is why you should be visiting Croatia.

There are many beautiful places to visit as a family such as Pula and Rovinj are perfect and play host to some spectacular holiday resorts. Or why not head to Dubrovnik affectionately known as Kings Landing as the HBO series Game of Thrones was filmed here. If you’re into the club scene, then you have to head to Zrce Beach on the Isle of Pag. These open aired nightclubs will have you dancing all night and enjoying the best atmosphere Croatia has to offer.

Ignore Rome, Visit Florence

Of the four places on the list of ones to avoid, Rome is the one that you should still definitely visit. However, Italy is home to some truly stunning places, and Florence is among the best. Enjoy the luxury of La Dimora dei Cherubini, and you won’t care about missing out on the Colosseum.

The food is stunning, the vibe is a little more relaxed, and there’s still plenty of amazing things to do. This includes cultural museums and galleries just like in Rome. So, when thinking about your next trip to Italy, make sure that Florence is on the shortlist of places to go and when you’re looking to book accommodation, ebooking is the site you should be using!

Ignore Houston, Visit Dallas

Austin is the capital, Houston has the links to Nasa. In truth, though, Dallas is the Texan city that is most likely to satisfy all of your holiday needs. A week at the Courtyard Dallas DFW Airport North gives you the chance to see Legoland, Grapevine Lake, and the malls. This is great for the whole family.

You can still take day trips to Houston or the other cities in the region. Nonetheless, you could easily base your entire stay in Dallas. It truly is one of America’s greatest cities. You will not be disappointed.

Ignore Paris, Visit Nice

Paris boasts Disneyland Paris, the Eiffel Tower, and the Arc de Triomphe. You can see two of those in one afternoon. And while I do love Disney, I appreciate that not everyone is the same. So, if  you want a pleasant few days in the sun, Nice is the ideal answer. The clue is in the name after all.

Nice isn’t the only place to visit on the French Riviera, but it is the best. There’s plenty to do in terms of sport, culture, and entertainment. Then again, sitting back with a nice glass of wine can be equally enjoyable and the views are just stunning. Who knew turquoise waters could be this close to home?

Ignore Johannesburg, Visit Cape Town

Given that it’s the capital city, it would be very easy to head straight to Johannesburg. The city is fine, but it doesn’t match up to Cape Town, which is simply one of the best places on earth. Whether it’s climbing Table Mountain or visiting Robben Island, every activity is incredible. At the right time of the year, you won’t be the climate either. While visiting South Africa you could also plan a trip to Sabi Sands Game Reserve and go on the most amazing safari of your life.

The beaches are great and even include penguins. Meanwhile, the nightlife and entertainment facilities are equally amazing. Whether you head off elsewhere to do a safari or do a shark dive locally, getting closer to nature can make things even better.
