Fuel Efficient Cars For First Time Drivers*

In the next year I’m hoping to finally start learning to drive. I know starting in my early thirties is considered late, but hey, better late than never. There seems to be so much to consider though when you take the leap from learning to drive to having a car, and of course the expense! It’s not something i’ve had to look at for a long time. Idealistically, I want something that is efficient on fuel with the rumours of the rising cost and I’m only just learning that fuel consumption is something the affects different cars. Obviously, the more fuel efficient a car is, the more expensive it is to purchase.

Thankfully, if you’re on a tight budget like I am, there is an answer, you can lease your car. Lets Talk Leasing is the answer and not only do they help businesses keep their costs low with the leasing of cars and vans for commercial use, and businesses often lose out a lot when buying new, but they also have a personal option to help those of us just starting out on our car journey. Not only does this help those of us who find it better to spread the cost, month by month, but it also means that we could be driving a car that works for us be it because we need a bigger car for a big family, or we just want a hot set of wheels Lets Talk Leasing make that possible.

And to help you get started on finding the perfect fuel efficient car for you, here are a list of some of the best;

Ford Fiesta
You’ll find the Ford Fiesta on many top car lists. As well as its modern looking exterior, it’s the perfect car for first time drivers looking for some cost effectiveness on the roads. MyKey, which can be found in nearly all Fiesta models, ensures that a maximum speed can be programmed, alongside a seatbelt reminder and a max volume for the radio. It’s also super comfortable and can fit 5 people inside.

Peugeot 208
Another great car for first time drivers is the Peugeot 208. The 208 is one of the newest releases from the French brand. With sophisticated looks and a great care for fuel consumption, the 208 comes with a “just add fuel” package, which gives you all need for the first three years on the road. The package includes road tax, insurance AND servicing for three years. If you’re a new driver under the age of 21, you may need to install a black box in order to partake in this deal.

Volkswagen Polo
If you’re looking for a little more class, the Polo Volkswagen is the car for you. The interior exhumes class and is designed with comfort in mind. All new Polo models come with a touchscreen interface and the 1.0 litre is both cost efficient and produces low emissions. With this in mind, the 1.0 litre also qualifies for free road tax. So if you’re looking for a bit of class and a cost efficient engine, the Polo 1.0 litre could be the one for you.

MINI
Although this is one of the most expensive cars on this list, the MINI is cheap to run, and road tax comes in at around £20 for a newer model. A downside to the MINI, however, is the space inside. A three door version of the model isn’t very spacious, despite the deceptive exterior. There are definite pros and cons to the MINI, but it’s definitely worth a test drive in the grand scheme of things!

Renault Twingo
If you’re after a fun first car, the Renault Twingo is full of character and stylish design. As well as this, you’ll find a full boot and a good sized interior. The entry level of this car is the 1.0 litre Expression, which sits in the second group in terms of insurance. The beauty of this car is that it is highly customizable if you’re buying new, and is great for light steering and a tight turning circle.
