3 Things to Consider While Organising a Group Trip*

I truly believe that everyone should take a group trip once in their lives. I’m not talking about a couple of families, I’m talking about 10+ people. Maybe you’ll have been lucky and got that over with while at school, but I know that’s not the case for everyone. I feel like I’d enjoy the challenge of organising one, but I also don’t think I have enough friends who would like to travel and certainly our family is way too small. But still, I think about the logistics quite often and it’s true what they say, you never really know what is around the corner!

Because my mind believes i’m a travel planning expert, here are some things you’d really have to think hard about when trying to organise a group trip, be it here or be it abroad.

Practicality When Traveling & Site Seeing

First you need to figure out how you’re travelling from A to B. The easiest way to keep your group together is by hiring a coach. This is something that is fairly common and straight forward to do as many coach companies specialise in this sort of thing. This way you don’t lose anyone, you all move together and you could even utilise the coach in your arrival destination. If you’re travelling to Europe, ferries often offer special group fares which make it both practical and affordable. If a coach isn’t practical, you could always have a convoy of cars (great for trips in the UK so there is little chance of getting lost) and that way it also allows smaller groups of people freedom.

Another thing about travelling to consider is how you’re all going to stay in a group. As a kid I went to Paris with the school and we all had to wear these hideous yellow caps, but hey it worked! These days you could go for something a little more stylish by placing a bulk order from Flexfit Headwear, but make sure everyone is happy with the style and colour that’s chosen!

Practicality When Sleeping

Finding somewhere within a certain price for a large group can be tricky. You might be lucky and find a well priced hotel, or maybe even a hostel (not just for youths these days). Or perhaps you’d consider camping? Either way, not only does the group you’re traveling with need to be happy with the arrangements, but the place you’re staying each night does too. Not all places will be happy with a group that could get loudly when all together, or have the space to accommodate a large group that wishes to socialise together.

Practicality When Eating

And this leads into my final point.. what will you all do for food? I’m 100% someone who does like to plan in advance where I’m going to eat, but if you’re travelling in a large group you really have to plan and make bookings or you could find yourselves either with no where to eat, or all separated. You need to ensure that places in the destination you’re planning on visiting does take large bookings or at least allow people to eat at the same time even if they’re on separate tables.

Another option would be to spend the whole trip self catering. While a lot of people do like to do that on trips, it’s not the case for everyone as they view a holiday a break from real life (hi, that’s me) so make sure everyone in your group is happy with your decision.
