That Quick Tortilla Wrap Everyone Is Raving About*

The school holidays are here, and along with it, a heat wave! And let’s face it, who likes to cook extensively in a heatwave? But if you’re a parent, you also know you need to keep your kids fed and it’s not practical to live on barbecues and take aways every night, just because you’re too hot to cook. And this is where this amazing tortilla wrap hack comes in.

First seen on TikTok, this quick and easy way to fold a tortilla so it’s filled to the brim with goodness and you don’t loose any while you crisp it up. They have become a staple in our house when I just want something quick but filling for dinner and my daughter loves them as she can choose her own filling.

One of her favourite fillings is Mexican inspired. Crispy chicken, rice, salsa, sour cream and cheese. If we have some guacamole we might throw that in there too. And because the tortilla is folded so well, it’s a full meal and I don’t need to worry about her being hungry later. I always go for the large size wraps as they also make great tortilla pizzas and this week I have also given the Moy Park Breaded Chicken Mini Fillets a go, as the pack is large enough that I’m able to have the rest with salad for lunch the next day! Two meals for the price of one is always a winner for me!

To make it, you simply make a cut in the tortilla from one edge to the middle the place a different ingredient in each corner. To fold you start at the cut and fold in on itself, then over to one side and down again to finish. So for example, I folded the salsa on to the chicken, then the chicken/salsa onto the rice and then the rice onto the cheese. Then into the frying pan/grill pan. Quick tip, if your cheese is the last quarter like mine was, make sure it’s face down in the pan, it’ll melt and make it easier to flip when the time comes!

I cooked the rice and the chicken mini fillets prior to constructing the wrap as once its in the pan to crisp up it’s ready in minutes!

I’m sure I cooked it for 2 minutes max on each side, just enough time to brown the tortilla and melt the cheese and there you have it. A meal cooked in minutes that’s filling, tasty and fun to make with kids. I hear they’re great as a big breakfast too, next time I have bacon and egg in, I’ll definitely be giving it a try!
