6 Ways to Spruce Your Home Up for the Fall*

Fall is a wonderful time of the year. The streets are lined with crunchy leaves and colorful trees. Shops are filled with Halloween candy and decorations, and the first signs of Christmas are starting to make an appearance. It’s a time for new beginnings with the kids going back to school, and generally, there’s excitement in the air.

Autumn is the perfect time to make some changes at home. We want to be able to get warm and cozy when we get in from a long day out in the cold. We want our home to comfort us and welcome us in. But, for it to do this, we need to make some changes. Your summer décor might not offer you the comfort you need, and it can be hard to get cozy with thin fabrics and bright colors.

However, few of us have the time or money to redecorate our homes every time the season changes completely. Instead, we look for ways to bring the season in, complement it, and enjoy it with our décor. Here’s a look at six excellent ways to spruce up your home this fall.

Bring Nature in

One of the first things that we think about when we think of fall is nature and wildlife. We picture pumpkins, falling leaves of orange, brown, and red. You might imagine foxes, rabbits, ferns, and other elements of nature. So, why not welcome some of it into your home? Fill your rooms with flowers and plants, add wooden furniture, and fresh wreaths. Create delicate autumnal centerpieces for your tables and welcome nature in as much as you can.

Add Some Fall Decorations

It might be a little too early to start decorating for Christmas, but there’s nothing to stop you decorating for fall and Halloween. Paint pumpkins, hang banners, fill vases with autumnal foliage and get creative with other Halloween decorations. Fall is a great time to get creative and to add some unique pieces to your home.

Increase Texture and Create Depth

You want your home to be warming and comfortable. So, add texture and depth with soft furnishings. Add blankets and throws to your chairs and couch, layer rugs on wooden floors, and stack cushions on your couch and bed. Use heavy fabrics like wool and velvet to add more texture and warmth, and layer them with contrasting materials like satin to create depth.

Add Atmosphere with Lighting

Getting cozy isn’t all about being able to be warm. It’s also about the mood and atmosphere of your home. One of the easiest ways to change the atmosphere is with the lighting. With the best discounts on furniture, lighting and more, you can give yourself options. Add string lights, reading lamps, and lanterns, as well as your main overhead light.

Utilize Rich Tones

One of the most beautiful things about fall is the colors. It’s a season filled with rich, vibrant color, and using these in your décor can look incredible. Accessorize with deep rich colors and bold prints to create a statement.

Don’t Forget the Finishing Touches

It’s often the finishing touches with our décor that really change the look of a room and make it more unique. Add candles, photo frames, vases, placemats, and plenty of other little touches to show your personality and play with the elements of fall. These are great ways to add color, print, and natural elements, and are as important as the furniture and wall colors.

Making just a few small changes can help you to create a warmer, cozier home that is perfect to enjoy all of the delights that the season has to offer.
