How to Choose the Best Furniture for your Decking*

If you have decided to have some composite decking from Dino Decking in your garden,
chances are you’ve already been thinking about what you’re going to place on it.

A bit of decking is more than just a place to put plant pots, it is an extension of your home.

This is why it’s important that you choose the best furniture. Anything that sits on your
decking will need to reflect your taste and style while being the right kind of furniture to
place on a deck.

Below you will find some tips that will help you choose the right furniture for your decking so you’re harpy with it for many years to come.

1. Choose Furniture That Matches your Home
One of the best and easiest ways to choose furniture is to opt for anything that matches
your home. More specifically, you’re looking for furniture that matches your home’s style, whatever it may be. Whether your home is modern, classic, full or earthy tones or is very minimalistic, you should be able to find furniture that matches.

2. Easy to Look After
Look for furniture that’s easy to look after. The last thing you need is a set of chairs and a
table (Or anything else) that needs a lot of care. Furniture that’s easy to look after means
you won’t have to spend hours cleaning it. Look for rust-free furniture that can be hosed
down or wiped with a cloth. It should also be weather-proof and easy to move around the
decking.

3. Opt for an Outdoor Rug
You may not have considered using an outdoor rug but it really can make a difference. A
deck that has a rug looks a lot more homely and inviting. If you don’t want your deck to be sparse, a rug will do the job nicely. Opt for a rug that is made from a synthetic blend or natural materials and is easy to clean. You should be aware that any outdoor rug is likely to get a little mould and mildew from time to time so you’ll have to keep an eye on it. Don’t forget to add a rubber backing so the rug doesn’t slip all over the place.

4. Choose Cushions for your Furniture
Once you have more of an idea as to what type of furniture you’ll use you may want to
choose a few cushions. Cushions and even a few pillows will make your furniture more
comfortable to sit on. Plus, cushions also add a bit more style and specialist outdoor ones
can last many years.

5. Opt for Protective Covers
While your furniture may claim to be weather-proof, it’s unlikely that it will be completely weather-proof. If your furniture is left out in the sun, wind and rain for a long time it will start to look a little worse for wear. Buy a protective cover or two that will help to prevent weather-related damage. When you are not using your furniture you must place it under cover and with the protective sheet on.

6. Protect the Base of your Furniture
Once you’ve purchased the right furniture for your decking the last thing you’ll want to do is damage it. You may, therefore, wish to use a protective cover on the base of your furniture to help prevent scratches. Even the most expensive deck furniture out there is susceptible to being scratched. Avoid scratching your nice new furniture by adding some protective padding to the bottom of your furniture, trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

7. Use Foot Pads
You may also want to consider using foot pads which are made from materials such as felt or a type of plastic. Foot pads are idea as they can help to prevent your furniture
scratching your decking. Even if you’re really careful how you sit on your furniture your
decking will be affected. Buy some foot pads and attach them to your chairs, your tables
and anything else that could harm your decking. The good news is it’s usually relatively
easy to find the right size and shape foot pads.

8. Store Furniture in the Winter
No furniture is tough enough to remain unharmed during the cold winter months. This is why you should always store it when the winter hits. Harsh weather can cause furniture to rust, break and become a little worse for wear. This is where winter storage will help. Take all those tables and chairs into your garage or shed and keep them there until the winter is over.

When you have found the right furniture for your decking you can enjoy using it as much
as you please. Adding something special to your decking and your garden as a whole the
right furniture can allow you to spend time outdoors with your friends, family or your
favourite pet.
