3 Ways to Create an Instagrammable Reading Nook in Your Home + Competition*

I don’t know about you, but I love to read. The problem is since I became a fully fledged adult AND single parent I just don’t have the time to. While LM was off over the summer I read 6 books because I wasn’t as working as much (I wanted to be present for LM while she wasn’t at school) and because I wasn’t getting up for the school run I could read in bed in the morning.

When I was younger books dominated my time, even as I entered my teen years. Our home still had dial up and my phone was for texting only. I always imagined when I had a home of my own I would have somewhere I could sit and read. Alas, that hasn’t happened, yet. But I have been thinking about it and pinning lots of instagrammable reading nooks on Pinterest.

So here are three ideas I’ve come up with to create a perfect reading nook for yourself, or your child, in your home;

Make Your Books Accessible
The first step to creating a reading nook that is both functional and looks good is to make your books accessible. There is no point having them stored in a few cardboard boxes. Buy a big book shelf and display those books, the most popular ways are alphabetically, by genre or the most aesthetically pleasing way is by spine colour.

Add Mood Lighting
Nothing screams home comfort like a string of fairy lights and they look especially good as part of a cosy corner set up. Either hang them over your bookcase or above your chosen chair. If you don’t want to use fairy lights a tall free standing lamp or a small table with candles on also works well and will look good for the ‘gram.

Invest in a Comfy Chair
The final piece you need to finish off your new reading nook is a comfy chair. There are two routes you can go. An old arm chair covered in cushions and blankets or something sleek and modern that also looks good when you position yourself on it with your chosen book. Either way, comfort is the way forward when you’re picking something for a reading nook given you want to spend hours sat in the same place!

Sloane & Sons are running a competition where you can win £250 to spend at Tub Chairs. These chairs are perfect for a reading nook and they will look so great in your social media photos too (if you’re into that sort of thing, and lets face it, most are).

Now all you need to do is make yourself a hot drink, grab a blanket and settle down with your latest read. I’m slowly working my way through the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy by Jenny Han, and it’s definitely worth a read!
