Five Favourite Lip Colours for Autumn

LINKS REMOVED AS ITEMS NO LONGER FOR SALE
Today is the first day it’s really felt like Autumn to me. I woke to thick fog that never lifted all day it made the house feel dark. There was also a definite chill in the air and it felt like I’d barely had my curtains open. My mother came breezing in at dinner time to tell me it was going to warm up again but to me, Autumn is officially here. The evenings are cold and we have blankets on our bed, not to mention you can get Pumpkin Spiced Lattes in Starbucks again (i’ll be having my first on Saturday!)
Anyway, as far as beauty and make up is concerned, my favourite part of A/W is the lip colour. As I chew on my fingers when nervous I rarely paint my nails, so I’m unconcerned with the colour of them, but lips. Well I always like my lips coloured. For me it has to be the season of plums and purples. Hayley has me slightly obsessed with purple lips, although I definitely lean towards the warmer purples that verge on plum which is the perfect shade for my winter wardrobe.
Below are my five favourites that I know I’ll often be reaching for over the next few months.

Top to Bottom
Rimmel Apocalips in Galaxy RRP £3.99 (on Fragrance Direct)
Of all high street lip products, the Apocalips range are my favourite and I currently have four in different shades (cannot wait to try the matte ones!) I just love the brush and the texture. I was late to the part with these but they have become a firm favourite and I always have one in my bag. I love the formula and find it quite like a gloss, especially this one in particular but without the sticky finish. The above one is Galaxy, a gorgeous purple shimmery colour. Although it looks a little intimidating on the brush, due to the fact it’s quite sheen like a gloss it doesn’t look that bright. It’s so easy to wear for any occasion.
DuWop Lipstick in Private Plum RRP £17 (on Beauty Bay)
This was my first ever dabble into more purple-y coloured lipsticks, and it’s the reason I ended up buying more. Part of the DuWop Private Colour Changing range that claims to suit anyone who wears it (which is maybe why I find this suits me so well!) I find this colour so easy to wear in the colder months and it’s perfect for every day wear as it’s not a remotely offensive in your face kind of purple. I also find this really brings my eyes out.

MAC Alluring Aquatics in Goddess of the Sea (discontinued)
I just reviewed this lipstick not too long ago but it’s already a firm favourite and I even wore it on a few evenings out during the summer, despite the fact that it is rather purple. It’s a cremesheen which is my favourite of the MAC finishes as it’s good for my lips that are always chapped. Like all MAC lipsticks it has a lovely smell about it and it’s worth the money you pay for it for it’s longevity. I’m looking forward to wearing this a lot throughout the Autumn and into the winter.

MAC Lipstick in Hang Up RRP £15.50 (on the MAC Cosmetics website)
This is my all time favourite A/W shade. I bought it last year before heading off to Paris and I never looked back! It reminds me of Regina from Once Upon a Time and I won’t lie, I was incredibly surprised at how much I suit it! Again it’s a cremesheen which for me, makes it easy to wear. The colours lasts a long time and although it’s pretty dark, it doesn’t bleed which is generally what happens with other brands.

Yves Rocher Grand Rouge in Bright Red RRP £9.75 (on the Yves Rocher website)
My all time favourite red lipstick, that really screams the twenties at you, even down to it’s gold casing! In my opinion, red lipstick can be worn all year round, day or night and it still looks good. This is why Grand Rouge is being included here because it will still be worn regularly and especially on any nights out I manage to have. If you think MAC lipsticks smell good, get yourself one of these because they smell so good which makes you want to put it on your lips! The colour is really buildable and lasts ages.
What colour will you be reaching for this Autumn?
