What’s On Your Face? Update

ALL LINKS HAVE BEEN REMOVED AS ITEMS NO LONGER FOR SALE
Last year I shared what skincare I used on my face, it was quite a popular post so I figured it was time to share an updated version with you all, with the products I now swear by. As I read last years post, I’m surprised at how few products I still use! I guess that’s what happens when you read beauty blogs! Everyone ends up being an enabler and my dressing table is a lot more cluttered these days! I also always have a wishlist of new products I want to try. 2014 has definitely been the year of skincare!
Just as a point of interest, I have sensitive blemish prone skin.
Starting with my morning routine;
I go with the good ol’ “cleanse, tone, moisturise”. With some of my birthday money I treated myself to this REN Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser and I love it. My face feel so clean after I use it and it really draws out the impurities in my skin. I’d have the whole range of Clearcalm if I could! Then I use my all time favourite toner, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner, I have been using it for over a year now and I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin. It was recommended to me during my Kiehl’s skin consultancy at the Nottingham Bloggers Meet and I think I’ve had four bottles since. They last me ages. Finally is a very new product to my routine but I am LOVING it. The only time I ever get break outs is when I change medication or I get stressed, this Ultra Light Spot Treatment Moisturiser by Neutrogena is a complete game changer and has cleared up my skin in less than a week! It also smells like cucumbers. It was the only thing I picked up in the #lincsblogmeet beauty swap and I’m so glad I did.
My evening routine is completely dominated by French pharmacy products! Firstly I remove my make upwith Bioderma’s H2O Micellar Solution. I picked up two of these massive 500ml bottles while in Paris back in October for 17e, complete bargain. It’s so gentle for when I’m scrubbing my make up off which is one of the main reasons I love it. Then I wash my face with La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel* which I actually love which is surprising after my disappointment with La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo+ and along with it I use the Clarifying Lotion* which again, I love as it has really sorted out my pores. The two together are a fab combo and ensure my face is spotless before bed. Then I finish off with either Skin Therapy’s Perform and Protect Night Cream* or Biotherm’s Blue Therapy Serum in Oil* (read review here) depending on whether or not I’ve wore make up that day. If I wear make up I tend to use the night cream and if I haven’t I usually use the serum.
Now for the all important face masks, I have one for moisturising and one for blemish fighting and I use them both once a week (not at the same time of course). When my skin needs that moisture boost I reach for my Extreme Comfort Mask by Yves Rocher. I bought this while in Paris in October and I’m really upset that it’s almost gone! It has been a complete saviour during the winter! I used it last night as I had that horrible “post-cold” dryness and my skin looks so much healthier today. When I have my pampering bath of the week (you know legs shaved, hair mask, nails painted etc) I stick on my Lush Cupcake facemask (read my review, here). I swear by it for clearly up horrible break outs and it also smells amazing. I have used it constantly (not the same tub of course) for well over a year now and I wouldn’t go past it.
Finally, as I mentioned above, I have blemish prone skin which is something I inherited from my mother (she still had monthly break outs up until her mid forties BOO HOO and it looks like my sister and I suffering the same fate) so I tend to always have something on hand to do damage control! Dr Spot from Soap & Glory’s range of skincare is the one of two products I still use from last years post. It is my ultimate spot fighting tool and minimises those horrible blemishes in a matter of hours! Although the packaging has changed I still love it and it still does what it says on the tube. I’ve also added in some Dr. Organic Aloe Vera Gel* as it’s great way to reduce redness before applying make up! Especially if you store it in the fridge.
Lastly, we have some other products I love to use on my skin. First up is Peaches and Clean (read my review here), again from Soap & Glory’s skincare range. This is a product I use while in the shower to clean my face. The pump makes it so easy to dispense with wet hands and I love the smell of it. Then we have Garnier’s Moisture Match, this is such a great high street moisturiser that I usually use along with the next product Kiehl’s Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB cream*. This is a combo I stick to in the summer as a base rather than foundation, the BB cream is 50 SPF which I love. Finally, another Kiehl’s product (can you tell how much I rate them?) Super Multi-Corrective Cream* (read my review, here) I swear by this for the days my skin looks all uneven in colour and I have a few dry patches, it sorts it right out. It’s a costly product so I try to use it sparingly.
So that’s it! My skincare routine, god I’ve come a long way from face wipes (I won’t lie, I still use them on trips away…) and I definitely think my skin has benefited a lot from an update.
What do you swear by as part of your skincare routine?

    I love skincare! I did swear by that REN cleanser and used it for most of my pregnancy, but once I had my baby girl my skin changed massively and I found it too drying. Now it’s calmed down I think I will have to try it again. I still haven’t tried Bioderma, but I really need to. x

    I use the same REN cleanswer and it really does leave my skin feeling very clean. I popped into The Body Shop today to try out a few of their skincare products, I’ve already tried the Vitamin E cleanser and it did a fantastic job getting my make up off so I’m impressed already 🙂

    Love seeing skincare routines and products, great post!
